American Indian Studies, SFSU

As a professor of American Indian Studies at SFSU I teach a variety of AIS classes for general education, our undergraduate B.A. program, and Ethnic Studies graduate program.  As the director of the Cultural Conservancy I teach, co-teach, and facilitate a number of workshops, trainings, and courses for indigenous communities and the general public. As a faculty member at the Center For Whole Communities I co-facilitate retreats for environmental and social justice activists.

Melissa K. Nelson, Ph.D. enjoyed a productive academic year 2010 – 2011 serving as the Anne Ray Resident Scholar at the School for Advanced Research in Santa Fe, NM and is happy to be back at AIS, SFSU full-time for academic year 2011 – 2012 and working at the Cultural Conservancy.
